  Membership

We believe that church membership is very meaningful and important. Since membership in the church gives the individual the high privilege of electing its pastor and officials and setting major church policies, it is imperative that members be in agreement with, believe, and adhere to the church doctrines and practices set forth as follows:

Salvation
Each candidate for membership shall be expected to give evidence of having been "born again" of the Spirit of God. The inward evidence is the witness of the Holy Spirit. The outward evidence is living in humble obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

We Believe:
  • In the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures
  • In the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
  • In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and His virgin birth
  • In the forgiveness of sin through the cross of Christ
  • In the healing for body, mind and soul
  • In salvation by grace through faith
  • In the indwelling guidance of the Holy Spirit
  • In the return of Jesus Christ

Loyalty
Since the strength of the church is dependent upon the loyalty of each member, sense of responsibility to the services of the church is important. Each candidate for membership shall be expected to have attended Riverside Community Church for at least six months.

Stewardship
The operation of the church requires the faithful financial support of its members and attendants. We believe the Biblical method for support is the tithe (the giving of one-tenth of one's income). Offerings are given in addition to the tithe. Faithfulness in this respect is a personal matter between the member and God.

Conduct
One of the requirements of church membership is stated in our church constitution as "evidence of a consistent Christian life."

Romans 6:4-8; Romans 8:1-14; Ephesians 4:17-32; and 1John 1:5-7 deal with the general principles of Christian living - the Christian is to be separated from this ungodly world in his thoughts, words, and general conduct.

Contact Pastor David Kennard if you have an interest in applying for membership, or have any questions thereby.

The next Membership Class will be Saturday, June 21 from 2 – 3pm
@ the Student Life Center.
